The day started early for me as i needed to be at the hotel by 11am to take notes for WAPI’s 2008 AGM also being held at the Hyatt Hotel in Birmingham. It was my last day as WAPI’s General Secretary. Just as well cause I wasn’t very good at that role. For the full details of the AGM please refer to the WAPI website.
I was subsequently elected onto the governing council (GC) of WAPI in charge of Electronic Media (SEO). Hopefully I will do a much better job of this role than my last one.
Beverly Flynn from Insight Investigations did an absolutely marvellous job in organising the WAPI 2008 Banquet.
2008 WAPI Annual Banquet on October 25th 2008 – The World Association of Professional Investigators, WAPI, is a professional body, formed by professionals, for professionals. It covers all areas of investigation, public sector and private sector, companies and individuals, corporate and domestic.
WAPI meets the need for a worldwide organisation, which can provide a focal point for investigators. It promotes the profession internationally and provides networking opportunities through which members can exchange ideas, knowledge, methods, advice, education and working assignments.
The WAPI Governing Council have elected to host the 2008 WAPI Annual Banquet on October 25th 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Central Birmingham a favourite Venue due to its central location, ease of access from around the UK and for our Overseas Guests alike!
Well after having donned my tuxedo, I joined the rest of the GC on the line-up in order to greet all the guests. After about 10 hand shakes, the novelty was wearing off. Unlike when I was there at the WAPI Banquet 2006, I actually knew loads of people who were attending including 10 members of e-LEGAL | Gathering, one of which, Maria Cooper of Warwickshire Investigation Agency won an award for Best Newcomer of the year.
The table where I was sat was at the back of the room which worked out quite well as it allowed us to talk without annoying the speakers too much. to my left was my friend and colleague Freddy from The Arabian Knight Ltd, next to him was Victoria Mitchell from Foxglove and Surveillance Services, then there was Maria Cooper (Warwickshire Investigation Agency) and her partner Kim, Neil Sheppard (Trident Investigations Ltd) and his Fiancé Kerry and last but not least, David Claire and Matt Frost from Alpha Detective Agency. Also there but not at our table was Tony Goring (Aclarado Enquiries) and KPS (DK Investigations).
Well all in all it was a good night and the band was great.

3 PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS FROM E-LEGAL | GATHERING WENT ALONG TO IFSEC 2008 TO SEE WHAT THE FUSS IS ABOUT.
Jorge Salgado-Reyes (Salgado Investigations – Archangel Research Limited) and Neil Sheppard (Trident Investigations Limited) founder members of e-Legal | Gathering went along to IFSEC 2008 and spent 4 long hours prowling the stalls on the hunt for new gadgets that would enhance their covert surveillance businesses.
There were hundreds of stalls displaying the CCTV industry’s best and not so best CCTV surveillance gadgets.
My favourite was one stall that had a small black ball slightly smaller than a golf ball with an integrated colour camera, microphone, USB connector and integrated DVR. The only problem with the gadget was it there was no real application for us but anyone that did extreme sports would like as it very light in weight.

Worlds first ball DVR
The same stall had very small (half the size of a packet of cigarettes) DVR with a button camera at a very cheap price.

Covert DVR – Cheap
Lastly it had a vehicle DVR Which again was light weight and cheap.

Vehicle DVR

E-Legal | Gathering new private investigator directory has just gone live. Free to current members of the forum, the PI Directory is currently being swamped with messages from it’s members to be included.
At the anniversary of ELG inclusion to the directory will no longer be free but until then, all ELG members who are practising PI’s will get a free listing.

PRESS RELEASE
August 2007
Croydon based private-eye Jorge Salgado-Reyes of Salgado Investigations has launched the UK’s 1st “open to everyone” Private Investigator’s forum – dedicated to dispelling the myths surrounding the often shadowy world of the private investigator.
In association with Neil Sheppard of Trident Investigations Ltd and helped by Sam Deeks of ‘mu:kaumedia’ (creators of ‘The Salgado Files’ podcast), Salgado-Reyes hopes the forum will show the industry in a more positive light and create better understanding between the public and the private detectives of the 21st century. Neil and Sam will help ensure that forum users keep to the rules and will enforce a strict code of ethics and the DPA.
“The world of the PI has always been a shadowy world and the fact is a lot of investigators preferred it that way”, says Salgado-Reyes. “However, it’s time to drop the secrecy and step out of the shadows. e-LEGAL | Gathering will help bring the industry into the 21st Century by demonstrating our commitment to each other, ensuring respectability, trust and confidence in our standards. That’s why e-LEGAL | Gathering welcomes the need for regulation in the industry”
For the first time, PI’s, lawyers and the public can share expertise, information and best practice through an open forum. e-LEGAL| Gathering is the first of its kind in the UK as all other PI e-Groups are secretive and closed to the public. e-LEGAL| Gathering is also open to Solicitors, Police Officers, HR, H&S Investigators and anyone involved in the legal or investigation industry as well as inviting members of the public with specific concerns or questions. 17 members have already registered online in the 1st day of its launch.
For information contact Jorge Salgado-Reyes on 020 8686 9657 or visit http://www.e-legal-gathering.co.uk

I was looking around the world wide web yesterday wondering if there was a forum where UK based PI’s hang out and chat. I wouldn’t find a single one in the UK that was open.
So I decided to do one myself and started asking around for a good name. Neil Sheppard from Trident Investigations came up with “e-Legal Gathering”
The forum is targeted at all investigators regardless of which association or e-group they belong to and also appeals to lawyers and members of the public who are curious about the often shadowy world of the private investigator.
Carl Shepherdson from CS New Media set it up in an afternoon.
There’s still lots to do with it, such as designing a logo for it, we need to get some T & C’s etc but in the meantime…I hope you all like it.
